Our Process
You work directly with our company founder throughout the entire application process.
Before becoming a full-time admissions consultant, our company founder David Wtorkowski spent years as a professional writer, editor and creative executive at Disney where he learned about the power of story, branding, and personal narratives — all keys to a successful application.
What does a typical engagement look like?
Once you sign up for any college package (1 college, 5 colleges, 10 colleges, etc.), you meet with our company founder every week for a half-hour private 1-on-1 Zoom session to discuss application strategy, essay ideas, and next steps. These weekly check-ins are an important way to keep you on-schedule and to answer any questions you have (parents are free to join as well, though it’s certainly not required).
In between your weekly Zoom sessions, you'll send us updated drafts of your essays to review and edit offline. We typically provide comments within 24-48 hours, and unlike most companies, we provide unlimited rounds of editing — all at no extra cost to you. In other words, we keep working with you until we get the job done.
Doubling up…
Sometimes at the start of a new engagement, we bump up our Zoom meeting schedule to twice per week or schedule a number of longer, one-hour sessions (schedule permitting) to get a jumpstart on critical elements like your college list, ED strategy, personal narrative, and activities list. It’s important to pin down these foundational elements before starting your college essays — otherwise you won’t know what to write about. Remember, the purpose of your supplemental essays is to highlight and provide context for your core interests, accomplishments, and long-term ambitions, which is what we cover in our first few Zoom sessions together.
How we’re different.
What makes our company different is that you work directly with our company founder throughout the entire application process — you’re never handed off to someone with less experience or expertise, or to a team where you can get lost in the shuffle. As one of only a few dozen clients every year, you are always a top priority for us and we remain personally invested in your success. You’re never reduced to a number in a large volume-based business with hundreds of clients and dozens of different mentors.
About our founder.
David Wtorkowski (tor-COW-ski) is a veteran college admissions coach with more than 10 years experience helping high-achieving students get into the Ivy League and other top-tier universities. An Ivy League graduate himself (he studied Creative Writing at Dartmouth College), David spent more than 20 years in Hollywood as a professional writer, editor and “script doctor” before becoming a creative Vice President at Disney, and then a full-time college consultant. In addition to his extensive experience in college admissions, he understands story, branding, and personal narratives — all key components for students looking to stand out and differentiate themselves in a highly competitive marketplace.
In between our weekly Zoom sessions, students send us new drafts of their essays to review and edit offline. Unlike most companies, we provide unlimited rounds of edits.
The key to elite college admissions is differentiation; you need to focus your application on one or two ways that you stand out from the crowd, and that’s where personal branding and strong essays make all the difference.
